FAMILY has always been fundamental to my life. I have been so very lucky to have met my husband and soulmate early in my life, and to have had the joy of raising two children - an amazing son and a beautiful daughter, together with him. Sadly, our daughter died tragically in a car accident when she was eighteen, but, to quote Garth Brooks from his song The Dance :
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye.
I'm glad I didn't know the way it all would end, The way it all would go.
Our lives are better left to chance. I could have missed the pain,
But I'd have had to miss the dance.
I would not have wanted to miss the dance.

TEACHING has been another passion. I fairly recently completed a 35 year teaching career where I engaged with students of all ages - from first grade to university - but spent the last half of my career with high school students, attempting to teach them English literature but mostly learning from them how to stay young, remain a little bit crazy, and laugh a lot. I loved them all, and it was difficult to leave them.
YOGA. I have studied and practised my entire adult life. I taught Hatha and Iyengar Yoga classes in the early 70's, and in 1977 was the founding President of the now defunct Saskatchewan Yoga Association. The desire to learn has never left me, and the more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know. But the dedicated study and the practice continues.
TRAVEL. As long as I can remember, I have been attracted to foreign cultures. There is actually a word for people who are so captivated. My soulmate husband and I are both xenophiles. This passion has fuelled our global travels, as well as my study of foreign languages - French, Spanish, and now Indonesian. GIVING BACK is a fundamental premise in my life, and the majority of my music performances as a solo artist over the years have been affiliated with charities. I remain committed to giving back. For an overview of my involvement, please visit my page on The Power of Giving.
I am now in a position to travel, learn yet another language, study yoga with renowned teachers, and take my guitar and music with me around the world to connect with people of all cultures, as I am happily discovering first hand that music is indeed a universal language. That is, when I am not at home songwriting or performing.
I have been very privileged, as I have had both the desire and the ability to pursue my passions. I remain forever grateful for this life I have.
